About Currriculum :

The Kindergarten/Preschool program at CIS is designed for children between the ages of 3 to 6. we follow an integrated curriculum, including both the Cambridge Primary and the Ontario Curriculum. For Elementary, the subject learning objectives are derived from the Cambridge Primary Program and are integrated through thematic inquiry based units. For Middle school, Cambridge Lower Secondary develops learners’ skills and understanding in Mathematics, English and Science for the first three years of secondary education. In High school, Cambridge IGCSE is followed in 9 &10, and IB-DP in 11 & 12.

Assessment and Reporting:

Students from Grades 6-8 sit the Measurement of Academic Progress (MAP) tests twice per year, once in the fall and again in the spring, to determine their yearly growth. With the exceptions of some of the arts programs, each IB Course has exams at the end of the two years and internal assessment over the two years of the program.

Our method of instruction is student-centric, with teachers providing an atmosphere conducive to active learning. Learning at CIS is a transformative process that leads to conceptual understanding, demonstration of competencies through application, and character development as seen through the CIS Core Values - Integrity, Inspiration, Respect, Caring and Joy.
